The molecular formula for ozone is O3. The unit of ozone gas is D.U. (1 D.U. = 0.01 mm). Ozone layer is found in the stratosphere. Ozone layer acts as a shield by absorbing harmful UV rays. Ozone is produced naturally by the action of sun's ultraviolet radiation on Oxygen. The ozone hole is formed by destruction of ozone molecules by manmade CFCs. The thinning of ozone layer was first discovered over the Antartica in the year 1985. World Ozone Day is observed on 16th Sept.
With rising ozone holes the people will be exposed to highly damaging UV rays which may cause skin cancer , blindness etc... So we,the people should put our best efforts to protect the ozone layer, otherwise world will not be a safe place to live in ..... If onions can make you cry , imagine what UV could be doing !!!!!!
